Debian's tenth major release, the Buster release, successfully completed development this Spring and testing early this Summer, and the release was announced on July 6.
I've been running the test release of Buster for a few months, so the release changes and the updates since the release have been minor and the software has been stable.
I am also running a test version of antiX 19, which is based on Buster, and it is solid.
I also have a stable version of MX 18.3 and an older release of antiX 17.4. I modified the MX repositories to point to Stable instead of Stretch. Since Stable now points to Buster, MX has been modified with software newer than the MX 18,3 release. I've had occasional issues with instances of the Firefox browser freezing certain MX updates, and that happened again this week. I have to continue to diagnose what is happening to determine the cause of the issues.
When I updated antiX 17.4, it took a long time, not all the updates completed before the time I had to shut down my system. It'll be interesting to see whether it works well, or if the changes that were interrupted will make the software unstable or unusable. I definitely did not use the "best practices", so in fairness to both Debian and antiX, we'll just have to see how resilient it is to aggressive system changes.
